By offering interactive learning opportunities that facilitate a nuanced understanding of what makes the BOP “tick” and how to leverage the agency’s own policies, we help improve outcomes and institutional experiences.
PERA offers customized training on federal BOP policies and processes, including those governing security classification, prison designations and medical. While we are a new organization, we have already conducted several in-person trainings for federal defenders and judges. And in Los Angeles, we conducted a session with federal defenders that was also livestreamed to two satellite locations.
Several of our staff members have served inside the BOP as instructors. We can custom design in-person or virtual sessions tailored to the individual needs of a law firm, advocacy organization, higher-education institution, court district, etc.
In the future, we will offer on-demand educational modules on our website, which also will be beneficial for family members of those who are incarcerated.
